Synthesis

Neither nature itself, nor anything else, is unchanging or immutable. All of existence is a never-ending process comprising patterns that emerge from motion and dynamics. And that is certainly true of the inner and outer worlds of human consciousness. Thus material forms, thoughts and action all spring from complex processes.

Synthesis  brings together the works of seven artists from different parts of the  world. They have grown out of diverse cultures, with roots in three continents.

A quality shared by the artists is that their works are three-dimensional installations created for the space, where they resound like silent visual music.

The works reflect a certain perception, thinking and rhythm, which may be seen as an echo of life itself, of primal forces, the structure of the fabric of the world and the ongoing genesis of the universe.

Another factor that unites the artists is the profound attention with which they approach each subject. Hence some of the artists in the exhibition address the material world through the medium of science, while others direct their candid and unflinching attention to the behaviour of human beings and their response to their circumstances.

The works are the result of a process – often a lengthy process, during which time appears to have charged the piece with tension. They address the process as part of a larger process, they are in themselves neither new nor old. They echo in time – past, present and future. They surprise us with their freshness, age-old wisdom and powerful presence. They appeal to us intellectually, ideologically and perceptually.
