Artist‘s Talk in Gallery D: Úlfur Karlsson
Artist‘s talk with Úlfur Karlsson about the exhibition We Are Not Afraid. The exhibition is part of a series which takes its name from Gallery D at Hafnarhús and is resuming after a gap of some years. The objective is to showcase artists who have not previously held solo exhibition in Iceland’s major galleries, and to offer promising artists the chance to work on their own terms in a public gallery. The series is a long-term project of the museum and the exhibitions are organised by curators at the Reykjavík Art Museum.
Úlfur Karlsson (b. 1988) began his artistic practice as an experimental filmmaker and later found a passion for painting while studying at the Academy of Arts in Gothenburg (Valand), where he graduated in 2012. His paintings are built with layers of stories and events that evolve into a world that is derived from both fictions and real life affairs. Úlfur lives and works in Iceland and his work have been shown in Sweden, Athens in Greece and in Iceland.
The artist‘s talk starts at 6 p.m. and will take place in Icelandic. Free with admission.
