Reykjavík Art Museum is a leading art museum in Iceland, housed in three distinctive locations in central Reykjavík—Hafnarhús, Kjarvalsstaðir and Ásmundarsafn. The Museum regularly exhibits works by three of Iceland’s most renowned artists; Erró, Kjarval, and Ásmundur Sveinsson alongside numerous local and international exhibitions. The museum also serves the role of a platform for young emerging artists.

Easter opening hours

Reykjavík Art Museum is closed on Easter Sunday. Otherwise open as usual.

The Reykjavík Art Museum Annual Pass offers access to all exhibitions and events taking place at the Museum, unless otherwise stated. The pass, which is valid for one year, also includes a 10% discount in our museum shops and 5% in the Café at Kjarvalsstaðir. The Annual Pass is available for purchase at the front desk in all three museum buildings.

Menningarkort Reykjavíkur

Reykjavík City Card offers free entry to Reykjavík Art Museum and is available for purchase at the front desk in all three museum buildings, Hafnarhús, Kjarvalsstaðir and Ásmundarsafn. The Reykjavík City Card offers free entry to many other museums and galleries, thermal pools in Reykjavík, buses and the ferry to Viðey island. Also included is discounts on various tours, in shops and services. 
Price: 24-hour card ISK 5.040, 48-hour card ISK 7.000 and 72-hour card ISK 8.630.

Disability Access is very good at Hafnarhús and Kjarvalsstaðir and wheelchairs can be borrowed in both buildings.

Prams, buggies and lockers At Hafnarhús and Kjarvalsstaðir guests can borrow pushchairs and store their belongings in lockers. Prams, backpacks, large bags, umbrellas and other large items are not allowed in the galleries for security reasons.

Photography Guests are allowed to take pictures for personal use, unless stated otherwise.

Rules of conduct Visitors are kindly asked not to touch the works of art on display. Eating and drinking is not permitted in the exhibition spaces. There is a restaurant at Kjarvalsstaðir and in Hafnarhús we offer free coffee.

Animals are prohibited in the museum, apart from guide dogs.
