Imagine Peace Tower Illumination

IMAGINE PEACE TOWER, artwork by Yoko Ono, on Viðey Island will be illuminated for the 17th time in a beautiful ceremony on Monday October 9th at 20:00.

The event is free of charge. It is necessary to book tickets in advance at Elding.is.  

Yoko Ono invites everyone to sail to Viðey Island free of charge. The first ferry will leave Skarfabakki at 17:30 and it will sail back and forth until 19:30. After the ceremony the first ferry sails at 20:30 from Viðey to Skarfabakki and until the island has been evacuated.

The Imagine Peace Tower is a work of art conceived by the legendary artist, musician and peace advocate Yoko Ono as a beacon to world peace. The work is in the form of a wishing well from which a strong and tall tower of light emerges. The words ‘Imagine Peace’ are inscribed on the well in 24 world languages.

The installation of the Imagine Peace Tower is a collaboration of Yoko Ono, Reykjavík City, Reykjavík Art Museum, Reykjavík City Museum.
