Symposium: A conversation on women, craft and the the visual arts

The symposium is held in relation to the exhibition Facets of Life, a retrospective of works by Ásgerður Búadóttir. Búadóttir was a pioneer of woven art in Iceland, her work combines ancient craft techniques and the independent creation of modern art.

Participants will talk about the use of textiles in visual arts in Iceland and its development over the years, influences and the power that emerged among textile women in the 1970s resulting in the foundation of the Icelandic Textile Association, among other things. The symposium will conclude with discussions.
