From video to Video Art - Speculation about the use of terms in Icelandic Art discussion
Discussion of new technology requires new words and art is no exception. Both neologisms and loan words characterize Icelandic art debate with mixed opinions. Do we construct new words from domestic materials or use loan words that fit the international debate? In her talk Dagný Heiðdal will consider concepts and the use of terms in the discussion of new media in Iceland in recent decades.
Dagný Heiðdal completed an MA in art history from the University of Lund in 2002 and has since then worked as Head of collection at the National Gallery of Iceland. She has specialized in the registration of works of art and been a member of the board of Sarpur, which is the cultural and historical database for Icelandic museums. Dagny has been working on a glossary of art related vocabulary, which is registered in Word Bank of Icelandic Language a project that is collaboration between all major art museums of the country and the Iceland Art Academy.
