D36 Steinunn Önnudóttir: Non plus ultra
Steinunn Önnudóttir is the 36th artist to exhibit in Reykjavik Art Museum‘s exhibition series in D-Gallery. Steinunn is born in 1984 and lives and works in Reykjavik. She finished her BA in art from Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam in 2011, first having finished a BA in graphic design from the same institution in 2009. Since 2014 she has run the exhibition space Harbinger in Reykjavik. In her works Steinunn approaches painting, in the broad sense, where she explores its materiality and manifestations in history and in present day.
The D-Gallery exhibition series started in 2007, where up-and-coming artists, who are shaping the local contemporary art scene, are invited to hold their first solo show in a public museum.
