Eggert Pétursson - Retrospective
This mid career retrospective showcases Eggert Péturson's meticulous depictions of Icelandic flora.
Eggert Pétursson (b. 1956) studied at the graphic art department of the Icelandic College of Art and Crafts from 1976 until 1979 when he enrolled at the Jan Van Eyck Akademie in Maastricht; the Netherlands. Pétursson held his first solo exhibition at Suðurgata 7 in 1980, featuring plant prints on watercolour paper. In 1981, he illustrated Icelandic Flora by botanist Ágúst H. Bjarnason. In 1989, Pétursson exhibited paintings on themes from the plant kingdom, focusing on the small and transitory in Icelandic nature. Since then, most of his exhibitions have e dedicated to the flora og Iceland.
