The Christmas Creatures at Hafnarhús and Kjarvalsstaðir

The Christmas Creatures of Reykjavík City

All the Christmas Creatures of Reykjavík City will be located in Reykjavík Art Museum, Hafnarhús and Kjarvalsstaðir, from 2 December until 6 January 2017. They have also found their dwellings in various places in the city centre. The Creatures are an important factor in introducing the specialty of Icelandic Christmas in the capital city of Iceland in a new and unusual way for its inhabitants and visitors alike.

An important aim of the project is to praise traditional Icelandic folklore and connect the people in the city, the locals and visitors, through story-telling and discussions about this interesting heritage and creatures. Another aim is to create an impressive and entertaining Christmas experience in the city in a simple yet effective way.

The hunt for the Christmas Creatures will start on 2 December. It is an amusing family game set up as a treasure hunt. The participants are supposed to find the Christmas Creatures and answer a few easy questions.
