Exhibition Opening – Emma Heiðarsdóttir: Margin

Exhibition opening at Reykjavík Art Museum – Hafnarhús, Thursday 15 August at 20h00. Heiðarsdóttir is the 39th artist to exhibit in the D-Gallery series.

In her exhibition, Margin, Emma Heiðarsdóttir poses questions on the moment and the place for art. Where and when does the art experience begin, how long does it last and where does it travel with the audience? The artwork usually plays a key role throughout this process as well as the exhibition site – the art museum. Emma turns these elements upside down and encourages the viewers to stop and ponder their experience.

Emma Heiðarsdóttir is the 39. artist to exhibit in Reykjavik Art Museum‘s exhibition series in D-Gallery. Born in 1990. Emma studied at the Iceland Academy for the Arts in 2010-13 and completed her MFA from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Antwerp in 2018. Her practice is based on site-specific interventions, as well as individual three-dimensional objects and videos.

Curator is Markús Þór Andrésson, Chief Curator and head of Exhibitions and Public Engagement at Reykjavík Art Museum.

Reykjavik Art Museum‘s D-Gallery exhibition series started in 2007. Emerging artists, who are shaping the local contemporary art scene, are invited to hold their first solo show in a public museum.
