Last days: Black and White and ...author of great aspirations
The last day of the exhibition Erró: Black and White is Tuesday, 22 April and the last day of the exhibition Jóhannes Sveinsson Kjarval: ...author of great aspirations is Sunday, 28 April.
Jóhannes Sveinsson Kjarval (1885-1972) was one of the pioneers of Icelandic art in the 20th century and is one of the country‘s most beloved artists. His connection to, and interpretation of Iceland’s natural environment is thought to have taught Icelanders to appreciate it anew, and to have encouraged pride in the country’s uniqueness and the world of adventure to be discovered within it.
The exhibition Black and White has around thirty new and recent black and white paintings by Erró. The works, most of whom come straight from his studio in Paris, yet again testify of the artist´s creative energy and innovation. Here he mixes famous people from history with Manga and cartoon figures.
