Úlfur Karlsson: We Are Not Afraid -D23
Last day of the exhibition We Are Not Afraid by Úlfur Karlsson (b. 1988) in D- Gallery of Hafnarhús will be on Sunday 20 December. Úlfur began his artistic path as an experimental filmmaker and later found a passion for painting while studying at the Academy of Arts in Gothenburg (Valand), where he graduated in 2012. His paintings are built with layers of stories and events that evolve into a world that is derived from both fictions and real life affairs. Úlfur lives and works in Iceland and his work have been shown in Sweden, Athens in Greece and in Iceland.
The objective in D-Gallery is to showcase artists who have not previously held solo exhibition in Iceland’s major galleries, and to offer promising artists the chance to work on their own terms in a public gallery. The first artist to exhibit in D- Galleyr 2016 is Sæmundur Þór Helgason. Others are Berglind Jóna Hlynsdóttir, Arnfinnur Amazeen, Ingibjörg Sigurjónsdóttir and Örn Alexander Ámundason.
