Gallery Talk: Hildigunnur Birgisdóttir

Hildigunnur Birgisdóttir, a still from Heimsljós by Ragnar Kjartansson.
Event location:
Hafnarhús

Artist Hildigunnur Birgisdóttir talks about her collaboration with Ragnar Kjartansson.

Birgisdóttir worked with Kjartansson during the creation of Word Light – The Live and Death of an Artist.  The work is cinematic adaptation of a novel by the Nobel Prize –winning writer Halldór Laxness. To make the work, Kjartansson directed a group of friends and family from the Reykjavik art scene during a one-month performance at Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary in Vienna.

The exhibition God, I Feel So Bad reflects Kjartansson’s ode to art in all its glory, to music, theater, film, literature and – naturally - visual arts. This celebration is manifested through selected works, dating from 2004 to the present; live endurance performance, large-scale video installations, photography, sculpture, painting and drawing.

The event takes place in Icelandic. Free with admission.

The exhibition is supported by GAMMA.

Free entrance with a museum ticket and for holders of Annual Pass/Culture Pass.
