Reykjavík Art Museum - Kjarvalsstaðir is rented out for different occasions. The spaces are suitable for all types of corporate and private events, including lectures, drinks receptions, presentations, dinners, and wedding receptions. 

We offer in-house catering service when applicable. The spaces are available for evening occasions, during the Museum's closing hours, when the client has exclusive use of the main spaces. However, it is possible to hire a separate section during opening hours; allowing guests and clients privacy without using the full space.

The building
Kjarvalsstaðir was the first building in Iceland especially designed and built for public exhibitions of art.

The building consists of two wings enclosing a courtyard, joined together by a slender central wing. The design of the building was influenced by Japanese inspiration to Nordic Modernism, with an emphasis on raw natural building materials, which grant it a quality of lightness with simplified lines throughout.

We offer the Main Hall and the more private Meeting Room for hire.

The Main Hall is a U-shaped space that opens into a large courtyard and the park beyond.
