Anna Hallin: Interplay
Interplay is an exhibition that comprises many different levels. Anna Hallin turns her attention to the historical context of the works of Ásmundur Sveinsson and Carl Milles, and the prevailing attitudes of the first half of the 20th century, that informed the art and life of both artists. Much has changed since then: the place of women artists was, for example, quite different from what we know today. Yet, although so much has changed, the interfaces are many. The art of Anna and Ásmundur intersects in their work with form, outlines and materials. And an interest in the potential of art in public spaces is shared by both. In the exhibition, an interplay is created between the forms and outlines of very different works of art. In the mind of the observer, a certain comparative process takes place – visual and conceptual. At the same time the observer is urged to see art in a broader context – historical and social.
