Borghildur Óskarsdóttir: Heed

The exhibition sheds light on Borghildur Óskarsdóttir´s fruitful and multifaceted career, artistic approach and work spanning six decades. Borghildur Óskarsdóttir (b. 1942) is still active in her artistic work because art is intertwined with her life and work. Borghildur´s work is relevant to the present, which is characterized by an effort to rethink the traces that man has left on nature.

The curator is Aðalheiður L. Guðmundsdóttir and the exhibition is the result of Aðalheiður's research on Borghilda's career. The Reykjavík Art Museum received the Museum Council's Excellence Grant in 2021 to study the role of women in Icelandic art in collaboration with the University of Iceland. The exhibition is the second of three that comes from this grant. The  first exhibition was Hildur Hákonardóttir: Red thread, which opened at Kjarvalsstaðir on January 14, 2023.
