Children´s Culture Festival: An Artistic Appeal to Nature

  • AAN: An Artistic Appeal to Nature

AAN: An Artistic Appeal to Nature: A joint exhibition of 15 preschools and primary schools in Reykjavík.

The exhibition is the result of children's collaboration with artists, scientists and teachers in preschools and primary schools in Reykjavík.

The exhibition is the result of the AAN development project, which is part of the implementation of a new education policy in Reykjavík. Let our dreams come true, and is based on an interdisciplinary approach where students discuss nature issues in a creative and innovative way with the methods of arts and crafts. Among other things, the project is intended to support the United Nations' Global Goals.

One of the aims of the project is to strengthen students' self-image, critique their thinking and belief in their own abilities, promote innovation and promote creative teaching methods. Various projects have been carried out, e.g. projects on the importance of insects, research on bees and endangered animals, the effects of global warming, melting glaciers, the clothing industry - threats and opportunities, new land being created, Kjarval's natural moods, the relationship between man and nature, weather, plastic - consequences of overuse of disposable plastic, weather conditions of Icelandic nature, Kjarval and adventures in nature.
