D29 Anna Hrund Másdóttir: Fantastic Souvenirs

The twenty-ninth artist in Gallery-D of Reykjavík Art Museum – Hafnarhús, is Anna Hrund Másdóttir. Anna Hrund searches for art in her closest surroundings and tries to combine the subconscious and meditation with concrete things. She takes things from the landscape, stores them and transports them between homes and continents. She dissects them and rearranges, and brings us a rod – a representation of discoveries from the real world.

Anna Hrund has been active on the Reykjavík art scene and participated in various projects. She held the solo exhibition Donut Galaxy in Listamenn Art Gallery in 2013, participated in the group exhibitions LOOK AROUND YOU, EXPERIMENT ONE in Kunstschlager in 2014 and Nacho Cheese in Kling & Bang Gallery in 2013. She has also participated in group exhibitions in the US, both in Los Angeles and Miami.

Anna Hrund (b. 1981) lives and works in Los Angeles and Reykjavík. She studied art at Iceland Academy of the Arts, Mountain School of Art and graduated MFA from California Institute of the Arts in 2016. She is also a member of Kling & Bang. The exhibition is supported by The Arts Fund.

Gallery-D at Hafnarhús normally holds work by artists who have not had previous solo exhibitions in any of the country´s biggest museums. The series aim to give promising artists a chance to work within the walls of the museum and call attention to new and interesting voices in the art world. In 2017, a total of four exhibitions are planned in the series.
