Katrin Sigurdardóttir - A private exhibition
Katrín Sigurðardóttir has within only a few years made her reputation as one of the most interesting women artists from Iceland. She exhibits her works in the United States and throughout Europe, and her name and is to be found in international reference books on the most prominent women in contemporary art.
The reason for this interest in Katrín's works is undoubtedly that they create an harmonious response among individuals of all nations, as they deal with a mapping of the human journey through time and space, in real time or in the imagination. These travels, however, do not refer to a flight from one world to another, but to an examination of what is left behind, and how it becomes an integral part of the traveller; the mountains, the islands, the buildings, the gardens - the accumulated life experience of the artist from infancy to adulthood.
With this exhibition the investigations of Katrín Sigurðardóttir continue; the registration of experiences,
the joining of places - and the guests of the Reykjavík Art Museum are invited to take part in the artist's journey.
