Þórdís Aðalsteinsdóttir: The myth, of course, is that there will be some survivors
Thordis Adalsteinsdottir is an impressive Icelandic painter living and working in New York. Her narrative paintings reveal a strong sensibility for human emotions and the tension of human communication or lack there of. The paintings are simple and alluring with monochrome shapes showing solitary figures in a dreamlike reality.
Adalsteinsdottir studied at the Iceland Academy of Art and in New York at the School of Visual Arts. She has exhibited nationally and internationally mainly in the US where she is represented by the STUX Gallery in Chelsea. Adalsteinsdottir received Iceland's Annual Penn Grant 2004.
