Tomi Ungerer – Posters and Drawings

Tomi Ungerer is an award winning illustrator and a trilingual author. He has published over 140 books ranging from his much loved children’s books to his controversial adult work. He is famous for his sharp social satire and his works forms an important commentary on the social and political changes that have occurred since the second half of the 20th century.

Tomi Ungerer turns eighty years old this year and the exhibition at Hafnarhús reflects a fraction of his drawings, which are either directed towards children or adults. The exhibition comes from theTomi Ungerer Museum in Strasbourg, France, and is curated by its director, Thérése Willer. Number of events have been organized in connection with the exhibition.

The exhibition is made in collaboration with Alliance Française, French Embassy, German Embassy, Goethe Institute in Copenhagen and the Tomi Ungerer Museum in Strasbourg.The exhibition is a part of Reykjavik Arts Festival‘s 2011 programme.

Lecture - Tomi Ungerer

Mondy 23 May 5 pm
Thérèse Willer, director at the Tomi Ungerer Museum - International Center of Illustration in Strasbourg, will give a lecture on the French illustrator Tomi Ungerer and his works. The event is hosted by Reykjavik Art Museum and organized by Alliance Française and the French Embassy in Iceland.
The lecture will take place in French with an Icelandic translator and is open to everyone.

Fyrirlestur - Tomi Ungerer Mánudag 23. maí kl. 17 Thérèse Willer, forstöðumaður Tomi Ungerer Museum - International Center of Illustration í Strasbourg, heldur erindi um franska myndlistarmanninn Tomi Ungerer og verk hans. Viðburðurinn er skipulagður af Alliance Française og Franska sendiráðinu á Íslandi í samvinnu við Listasafn Reykjavíkur. Fyrirlesturinn stendur öllum opinn, en hann fram á frönsku og verður þýddur á íslensku á staðnum. Laugardag 4. júní kl. 14 Hafnarhús – Tomi Ungerer Fjölskyldudagskrá í tengslum við sýninguna. Viðburðurinn er skipulagður í samvinnu við Alliance Française, Franska sendiráðið og Þýska sendiráðið á Íslandi.
